Wool Hat (using straight needles) Needles: 10 1/2" (6.5 mm) Yarn: Bulky, green or blue
Cast on 80 stitches
K1 P1 ribbing for 11-12"
Carefully pull the remaining yarn through each of the loops on needle, but do not pull tight.
Pom pom: Cut out two thin cardboard circles, about 2" in diameter, then make a hole about 1/2" wide in the middle of both circles.
Wrap yarn around the cardboard until the hole cannot be seen.
Cut the yarn around the edges (between the two cardboard circles) and ease the two rings apart.
Tie a length of yarn around the center, before tearing the two cardboard rings off. Fluff out the pom pom.
Tie the ends of string on the pom pom onto the yarn between two loops of the hat.
Now pull the tail tight, and use it to stitch up the two sides of the hat.
Voila! You have your own Michael Nesmith hat. Wear it with pride. |
